Overview of the 2025 Mazda3
The Mazda3 has several notable updates for the 2025 model year. The base trim — which was previously only available as a sedan — can now be ordered as a hatchback. The Carbon Edition now comes standard with all-wheel drive (AWD), like the two Turbo trims. Alexa built-in is also available on all trim levels save for the base model.
The latest Mazda3 is equipped with a 2.5-liter SKYACTIV-G engine. This delivers 191 hp and 186 lb-ft of torque in the 2.5 S trims. Turbo models receive a turbocharged version of the engine, increasing the power output to a maximum of 250 hp and 320 lb-ft of torque. The SKYACTIV-G engine pairs with a six-speed automatic transmission in all trim levels except for the Mazda3 2.5 S Premium hatchback, which comes with a six-speed manual transmission.
Safety-wise, the latest Mazda3 features the impressive i-ACTIVSENSE safety suite, which consists of a long list of standard and available features. These include blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and smart brake support.
Mazda3 Trim Levels
There are seven Mazda3 trim levels to choose from. Except for the 2.5 S Premium, which only comes as a hatchback, all other trims are available in both sedan and hatchback body styles. Below, we’ve given an overview of each trim level’s features.
Mazda3 2.5 S
The base 2.5 S model is a solid entry point, boasting standard features such as 16-inch aluminum alloy wheels, LED exterior lights, automatic headlights, type-C USB ports, push-button start, and a 7-inch LCD meter display. For infotainment, it has an 8.8-inch full-color display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, Bluetooth connectivity, and a six-speaker sound system. As with most of the non-turbo trims, the 2.5 S has a front-wheel-drive system. Its EPA-estimated combined fuel economy ratings are 31 mpg for the sedan and 30 mpg for the hatchback version.
Mazda3 2.5 S Select Sport
The mid-range 2.5 S Select Sport improves upon the base model. Highlights include 18-inch wheels with a Black Metallic finish, heated side mirrors with integrated turn signals, an advanced keyless entry system, dual-zone automatic climate control, and Alexa built-in. A rear center armrest, overhead console, illuminated visor vanity mirrors, leatherette-trimmed seats, and leather-wrapped gear selector and steering wheel add to its upgraded feel.
Mazda3 2.5 S Preferred
The 2.5 S Preferred trim builds on the previous trims with luxurious features such as heated front seats and an eight-way power driver’s seat with memory function and lumbar support. Another notable feature is the power-adjustable sliding-glass moonroof with a sunshade and one-touch-open feature.
Mazda3 2.5 S Carbon Edition
The high-end Carbon Edition trim sports a distinct appearance with its Polymetal Gray Metallic paint, gloss-black accents, and red leather-trimmed seats. Key features include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration, an eight-speaker audio system, and wireless phone charging. This AWD model has combined fuel economy ratings of 30 mpg for the sedan variant and 29 mpg for the hatchback.
Mazda3 2.5 S Premium
The 2.5 S Premium is available only as a hatchback. This upscale trim features a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system, Active Driving Display, signature LED headlights and combination taillights, leather-trimmed seats, and a navigation system. It also includes a three-month trial subscription to SiriusXM. Apart from the standard safety suite in all trims, the 2.5 S Premium also comes equipped with traffic sign recognition and an adaptive front-lighting system.
Mazda3 2.5 Carbon Turbo
Designed for performance, the Carbon Turbo stands out with its powerful turbocharged engine and AWD configuration. Exclusive Terracotta leatherette upholstery and Zircon Sand Metallic paint set it apart from the rest of the lineup. The Carbon Turbo shares many features with the Carbon Edition but sports a larger 10.25-inch display and a heated steering wheel. It has combined fuel efficiency ratings of 27 mpg/26 mpg for the sedan and hatchback, respectively.
Mazda3 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus
The range-topping 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus model combines the potent turbo engine with luxurious amenities. Highlights include a black front air dam and rear roof spoiler, front air guides, signature LED lights, a windshield wiper de-icer, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, perforated leather-trimmed seats, and a Bose premium audio system. This trim builds on the 2.5 S Premium’s long list of safety features, adding a 360-degree view monitor, parking sensors, and Cruising and Traffic Support.
